An effective way to learn new concepts is to teach people, especially those who have no knowledge in the subject. Explain Like I’m 5 (ELI5) is a term used on Reddit (and The Office) that means to dumb down an explanation to the level of a 5-year-old. I believe this is a very difficult thing to do and takes mastery of whatever subject bares explaining.
When, and only when, I can take a complex concept from computer programming and simplify it to a 5-year-old’s intellect, then I know I truly understand what it is my code is doing.
This blog is a transformation of my Daily Coding Blog. It will only contain those posts I fleshed out in the past, in addition to hopefully more posts in the future. The early posts are about my journey of self-education using The Odin Project.
